How smart are betta's?

Normally I drop a few pellets in and he does a mad dance, oblivious to the pellets. So every so often I weaken and drop another in. Then wave my finger around trying to help him find them.

Last two nights I've just dropped them in and rushed off. Both times the pellets are gone in seconds. Wondering who is training who here??

Anyone else have smart things their fish do?
 
Bettas are smart my new betta im teachin it to jump for food. Wet the tip of my finger places a pellot on it stick my finger half in above water am he jumps for it

Bettas are extremely smart and can be trained like a dog to jump, go through an underwater hoop (pipe cleaners), and even come to your hand when you wave your fingers.
