How to fill the aquarium

Ok, I have a 38 gallon aquarium and I have a new skimmer. I just got about 40 lbs of aragonite sand. I also have plenty of salt. My question is, where do I mix the salt in? Can I fill the aquarium with tap water, then add conditioner, and then salt?
Is it necessary to fill add conditioner before the salt.

I would go ahead and add water, conditioner and salt and mix in the tank. Dont add any sand or rock until you have the salinity stable. You`ll probably need to fill only 3/4 full to get the sand and rock in. Make sure of a fishless cycle.

Dont use a garden hose to fill-er up. Thats my only advice
