a blue and the others have a tealish neon stripe.. is this because its a diff kind of fish, male/female, just different fish in a batch, etc?

I'm not sure but I would like to know also. I noticed what you're talking about at my lfs yesterday.

Sounds like a mixing of genetic pools. I don't think the different sexes are different colors.

yeah i thought i would be famous because i discovered sumtin but oh well 8P

I don't think there are any color differences between males and females. I do notice, however, that the blue stripe "changes" shades on the neons in my tank depending on the angle I am looking at them, or if it's feeding time...or if they are particularly stressed.

Are you sure they're all neons? THey could be a mix of cardinal and neon tetras since cardinals have a tealer stripe color. :)

yeah they all change colors according to the angle. frmo my pov (point of view) they went from light blue, green teal, and purple.
