Identify but no pic

I had a catfish a few years ago and it was great i mean it made it through 3 moves a hurricane and a 2 blackouts. I would like to Try and get another one but don't know what kind it is. I'm "assuming" it's a synodontus but can't find it. The description I can give is that it was about 8" after 2 years, it was all black(no spots or markings) and it had whiskers that were just about as long as it's body. I've been looking for about 3 years now and need some help any ideas?

Did it ever swim upside down?

That looks like it but it never swam upside down

At night, most synodontis species will swim or float upside down.

I'm sure if it was an upside down catfish you would have seen it swim like that at some point in the 2 years you had it.

Do you remember what it ate?

My friends upside down catfish doesn't swim upside down anymore it got to a certain size then stopped

Yeah mine rarely swim upside down, but they do like to sleep upside down lol
