I'm going to be cycling a new tank soon, and my mom found some ammonia under the sink. It's pure ammonia, and the only ingredients in it are ammonia and softened water. Is the softened water going to be ok? I can go to ace if I need to, but If I don't have to go to extremes, i'd like to use this stuff. It's from kroger! Lol! It's also kind of old... Is that a problem?

as long as it doesn't mention surfactants or soaps or cleaners or anything of that nature it should be fine. shake it up. if it bubbles, don't use it. if it doesn't, you're fine.

So softened water won't do anything? I shook it, and there seemed to be a few bubbles from air or something, but nothing major.

Sounds like it should be OK. The biggest concern with ammonia are the other chemicals they add for our benefit. As long as it didn't foam (persistent bubbles) you should be OK.
