Take the oscar out for a while and let the jd feel safe. Then add the oscar back a few weeks latter. The oscar is already aggressive so you probably won't need to do this over and over again.

Did that lmao i did it for one week when i still had a 45 but dont have anymore but the oscar pouted and wouldnt eat lmao and the jack would hide and barely eat but would always be looking at the tank with the oscar in it and swimmin twords it and hitting the glass haha. They are attached so i think hell be fine i guess. There is no damage occuring. So ill just let em be

Im sorry if im be frustrating and counter productive lol. I guess i asked a question that i already had answered.

Just let them be what they are being is my opinion. More filtration is a must so you're on the right path. 55 can be small for oscars but its been done! Bigger they get the messier they get so the filtration will help. Get a filstar xp L or Xl canister. Great filters and so much easier to get running than fluval although its been yrs since I had one so maybe they prime easier now. Good luck and enjoy your fish! Show some pics!

There ya go

I love oscars. They are officially my favorite fish haha. He loves a minnow every once in a while but i dont like feeding him feeder fish so i only give him like 2 minnows every couple months. He gets fed raw shrimp sometimes to lol. And earthworms during the summer. Also likes ghost shrimp. Ghost shrimp are my jacks favorite food.
