HI everyone so I'm finally upgrading to a 150 gal tank that was given to me . Decided to let you guys in on my build adventure hopefully I can keep you guys posted as I build.. I will be pretty much be building stand , canopy and etc....
I will be using alot of my equiement from my 90 gal.

List of equiment.
250 Watt Blueline ballast
1/3 Chiller
KorallinCalcium Reactor
Ecotech Mp40's
iwaki rlt 20 return pump
icecap 660 ballast
Ets Skimmer

The stand will be built out of 2x8 , 2x6 , and 2x4 without a center brace. So it will be a 6 foot span without any center brace...So i will have easy access to my sump...

I'm thinking of getting rid of one of the overflow boxes..
and drilling the other drain hole to 2 inch dain pipe...

any suggestion there??????

Just relized that the bottom panal is tempered so I wont be drilling the bottom.
How about using the 2 holes as drain pipes then drilling the back panel for a return line...

any suggestions????

I've never liked overflow boxes they take up to much space. I've always drilled the back panal for drain pipes and return.

I really don't care for the huge overflows but I know I will have to aleast keep one of the two.
Or suck it up and keep both.

So I have decided to keep doth overflows intact so that i wounldnt alter the tank .

Well started on the stand lastnight quarter of the way thru. Still have ro skin it and build doors. That won't happen till the weekend.

Update...
Just started to skin the stand tonight...Tommarrow I'll start trimming it..
then start on the canopy!!!
Staring to route , to get the Lauan flush with the stand

Finished routing, time to let the glue dry...

Just started to build the doors... The doors will be made by 1x3 and lauan .. They're going to be 4 doors but will be a bi-fold so it will be a complete open span. To access the sump.

So I finshed making the frames of the doors.. Now I'm gonna need some input..I need to make the panels now.. Now I have 2 Choices 1st is a flat panel "which is fast and easy to do".....2nd is a raised panel " which is not that hard to do but will have to go out and buy a $70 router bit".....any Suggestons...

It would depend on the amount of money you have at your disposal entirely.

I'm thinking of going raised panel...Cause that means HD trip and a new tool...LOL....Wife already complaining ....Keeps saying to me "spend spend spend"...

Well went today to the HD today to buy the bit to make the raised panels for the doors of the stand. But when I grabed the bit I noticed that it had a 1/2" shank on it. Well my router only receives a 1/4" shank. So for me to use that bit I would have to buy a new router that accepts a 1/2"shank. Because they don't sell the. It in 1/4" shank. So I thought about it $99 for bit and $129 for new router. I decided to just do a flat panel instead of a raised panel. Hopefully it looks good.
