large tank ideas?

going to build my own bespoke (front glass only) tank i want 500 to 1000 litres now i only want the one glass piece to save cost hopefully any ideas what i can use on the sides and back as these will be hidden (going under the stairs) i was thinking using wood then line it with pond liner but i dont know if it would hold the wait. i looked at acrylic but thats a no go i dont want spen out to much and if cheaper than a all glass one advise pls
 
Wood will hold the weight. Google "plywood aquariums" or "plywood aquarium builds" for many tutorials.
You can coat it with a few different things. Epoxy resin, pond liner, liquid rubber...
 
1/2" Is what they used on my 265, so that's plenty. I would look into buying low iron glass. it's much clearer. It's commonly called starphire glass.
