Lava Rock from Hawaii

Some one brought me lava rock from Hawaii for my tank. Are they ok to add to tank?

Today I was actually supposed to go down to the beach and get some sand and try to rinse out the salt for my freshwater tank, and I was going to find some lava rock to attach my Java fern to as well. If I have time tomorrow I will. If you are using it for saltwater tank, I am sure it should be okay.

Our waters are pretty clean. Takes a while for anything bad to reach our shores=)
