I have always believed in beginning as you mean to continue, but I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew on this one....
Setting up a new 55g aquarium, we mean to add blue acara to it if I ever get it set up right.
At the aquarium shop ran into a guy that recommended setting up a layer of organic soil under a gravel substrate so we decided to try it even knowing nothing about what we were doing....
I set a 2" layer of organic soil, then a fairly thin layer of gravel on top of it, but when I test my water the levels are all over the place and the water is very brown and dirty even after a few days of running the filter.....
I would appreciate any advice on how to proceed....
