1. Do you need a power head during cycle?

2. Has anyone had good success with bacteria in a bottle and which kind? I want to avoid hitch hikers.

Thanks a bunch

More water movement the better so I'd go with some pumps now and most bacteria in a bottle is a gimmick. You can cycle a tank without it and 0 live rock only base rock but many of the hitchhikers you find on LR you can't necessarily buy and are very helpful to keeping a healthy tank long term. I would say get 90% base rock and 10% live lessen your risk of pests but still introduce helpful little critters :)

I picked up 1lb of rubble from tfp to cure in my bucket. I figured it came out of their rubble tank which is usually cured and mostly live so I may add that and possibly order more. I'm probably ordering the 50 lb box from Marcorocks. I'm so pumped
