Light cycle

I just bought a timer for my lights, and i was wondering what would be a good timespan to keep my lights on? I have african cichlids, and i just got a new bulb for my light last week.

I work mornings and stay up late so like to run mine from 2-12 but 8-10 hours is a decent amount of time for FW

The fish actually don't need the light for extended periods..some only keep em on for viewing...8-10 hr photo-period is usually suggested for live plants..
