Live rock

So I bought a used tank from a guy today and he wanted to give me the live rock that was inside but I don't have my tank set up yet. What im getting at is right now the rock is in five gallon buckets for about an hour now, how can I keep this rock alive for days? If I put it in a 40 gallon rubbermade barrel with saltwater and a heater will that work?

Yep throw a power head in and you should be ok. If its going to sit for weeks do wc.
