What exactly is the benefit of having LR rubble in the intake section of a sump? (yes, more sump questions!!! sorry!) There is going to be a ton of it in the tank so whats the use of having it in the sump?

I had it built into my design for my 30 gal long. I just got my skimmer and its a little on the large size. If i dont want a tiny fuge I might have to cut out the LR rubble section completely or make that part really small. Just wondering how important it is to have (if at all). Thanks!

If you have, depending on the density of the lr, between 1-2 lbs/gal you don't really need it. You can make the fuge in your sump bigger if needed.

Mkaes great hiding places for copepods and amphipods. They breed there and the LR rublle is also great as additional filtration as mentioned.
