Marine Test Results not so great

I just did a run down of the following test in my tank:

pH : 8.3

Nitrite: 25

Nitrate: 50+ (my kit only goes up to 50 which is purple colour the result gave me an orange )

Alkalinity: 0

Free and Total Ammonia: 0

My question is obviously with the nitrate and nitrite levels, i figure its probably caused by un eaten food, how do i bring down the nitrate and nitrite levels, prevent them from getting that high again and what could i use to raise the alkalinity?

Water change.

When is last time you did a water change?

How much do you feed?

How often do you feed?

Do you have a sand bed? If not do you syphon your substrate?

i did a water change it least 1 week ago, ill ready some water then.

in one day i go through either a couple brine shrimp or two pinches of marine flakes

I do have a sandbed, and its clearing up but theres still some broken down material there

sounds like i should clean the tank then run some new nitrate and nitrite tests

so you feed every day twice a day?

Cut back to once a day.

There should be no uneaten food in your tank after 5 min. If there is then your feeding to much.
