I currently have three cherry shrimp in a planted and landscaped ten gallon tank (36 liters). Plan to soon introduce some small ember tetras and corydoras.

I am going to buy some more shrimp this weekend and wanted to know about the prospects of mixing yellow and red shrimp. I know they are genetically the same so it is likely they can and will breed.

Do you mi the shrimp, or keep color-specific tanks?

Thanks.

Normally people keep them separate because when they breed the off spring can come out as their natural color...but I have a few blue velvets with my rcs and red rilis and I haven't got any natural colors yet

I would say with the fish you have anything that hatches will be eaten anyway.

As long as you have plenty of plants and small places for the shrimp to hide in you should still have a a few reach adult hood... But yes quite a few will probably be eaten
