Fresh water salt is beat as the alkalinity isn't SP high and in turn your levels will be more controlable
 
You don't have to use salt at all. They do just fine in full fresh. Keep the water clean, QT new fish, don't over feed, and you should have healthy fish for awhile.
 
I actually will have agree with dragonfish on this one. If it aint broke don't fix it.
 
I would use marine salt. Mollies are brackish adaptable. To create brackish water, you use marine salt, not aquarium salt.
