I have a balloon molly that has been showing signs of shimmies. She wiggles her whole body side to side, but is still able to swim around the tank. I have also seen her rub herself against items in the tank. Other than the shimmies and occasional rubbing, she acts normal. I have been doing some research and think its either some sort of parasite or hardwater problems. I do not see any signs of infection in her or her tankmates.
Water parameters:
ammonia=0
nitrite=0
nitrate=<40
pH=7.4
temperature=78 F
I am unable to test gH or kH at this time, but I think because I live in CA, my tap water is considered hard (I have been thinking of ordering a test kit for these parameters if need be). I occasionally see other fish rub against things as well, but not very often. I am hoping it's not an infection because I hate treatment regimens with so many water changes.
Should I be worried about her?
