Mollies are the most sensitive of the live bearing fish to slight changes in the water chemistry or traces of nitrogen in their water. Unusual Molly behavior is most times water chemistry related. Your fish is probably telling you it's time for a slightly larger than normal water change. Mollies like a trace of salt in their water too. I'd suggest adding a level teaspoon of aquarium salt to every 5 gallons of replacement water.
