So being I have so many questions, I thought I better just start my own thread. I realllllly appreciate anyone who helps me out during this process...
Tank Info
Size-28 gallon bf
Lighting-Thanks to the help of Roydooms, I just got the fishneedit 2 bulbs fixture, 2 x 24watt bulbs, 10000k.
Filter- Aquaclear 50
Heater- Topfin 150w
I'm going to want a planted tank, right now i've got a single hornwort.
I'm in the cycling stage as i'm about 3 or 4 weeks into it now. I feel terrible that I didn't do my research and bought fish without knowing about the cycling process. So I have a orange and black molly who are helping with the cycle. Today api test kit gave me these results:
Ammonia- .25
Nitrite- 0
Nitrate- 0
The Ammonia has been stuck on .25 for a couple weeks now that i've been testing it.
Now my pH is in the 8.8ish area, the test kit isn't giving me a real good match.
Now, I'm using soft water from the bathtub, and I mixed it with hard water from the faucet outside. The lady at petsmart suggested this, as you need some hard water for the nutrients. But another guy at a different lfs told me that soft water is wayyy better. When I test the pH's of the two water sources, they both have a different pH, but are lower than the 8.8 in my tank... so I guess my first question is, should I just stick with the mix of the soft and hard water, or should I just stick with one or the other?
