Just started my girlfriends 54 gallon corner bowfront reef. Tank has been set up for about a week now. Need a skimmer, and light. Getting some live rock tomorrow.

Just added live rock I bought from a guy breaking down his 65 gallon tank. Don't worry all the rock is not staying in the tank. Lol once we test the parameters in a few days we will aquascape and put a lot of the rock in my 200 gallon.

Looks nice. Do you have the 2" Of room on the sides to get the magfloat through?

If you're planning a reef, and SPS, you may want to add a bit more rock to make it taller. Maybe it's an illusion but it looks like the rock is only about halfway up. If you do high-light needing corals you will want more height.

I really like how open it looks - lots of nice swimming places.

Your right - i do need to check to see if there is room. I do know it is not touching the front of the aquarium.

I did also want to ask what light system do you currently have set on your tank? I most certainly need to upgrade the lighting and was unsure of which way to go.

As far as the height of the rocks - they do not currently go all the way up the tank. They are a little over half way up the water column. We are def going to add a little more rock - the other rock we had just didn't seem to fit right.

Currently i have an AquaticLife 4-Bulb T5 24" fixture with (2) ATI blue plus bulbs and (2) ATI special blues.

I am extremely happy with this set-up, and I'm having no issue even growing SPS.

KcTx (with a 54) has the same fixture but the 30".

I will say that if I had the money, and may still do it soon, I would opt for either the Vortech Radion LED system, or the AI Sol LED system. I think they are superior and cost efficient in the long term.

I believe the 24" version of what I have is $250ish, and the bulbs are $80ish. Total approximately $350. The AI Sol is $400 but no bulb replacements, and the radion is $700, with more features, but again bulbs last an extremely long time.
