This fish isn't looming so good... laying at bottom... now standing on tail. Not sure what to do to help him20170514_090518.jpg

What kind of fish is it? It looks like a Betta with really bad fin rot but I'm a newbie

One thing that I have learned from this forum is to always ask, "what are the water parameters?"

Water parameters are normal. Ammonia has be .25 or ļess. I check once a week if not more and all the other fish are fine.

I have a top fin 40 in the 20G tank

We do a large water change monthly or as needed. Otherwise 15 to 30 percent.

No new fish except añ algea eater. This was over a week ago.

Use salt in tank.

you sound like you need meds, but they might make things worse if there's organ failure.

I didn't know what my fish had so I bought two antibiotics (one for aerobic, one for anaerobic) and an anti parasitic. I wish I had gotten something specifically for fungi

You could also use clove oil to put it out of it's misery, if it's in misery.

Sadly at that point euthanasia is usually the only option.
There should be no ammonia, any at all is deadly to the fish, as are any level of nitrite. It sounds like you may need to be changing more water, and if you are reading any ammonia then the tank isn't fully cycled.

The tank fully cycled and I have no nitrates and about 20 nitrates

We've had all our fish for a while with the low ammonia and haven't had trouble. I've cut back feedings and do a couple of water changes a week and can't seem to get 0 ammonia
