Good afternoon!!
I just recently cycled my 75g planted aquarium. To make sure it was cycled,, I dosed a little ammonia at 3ppm and watched if drop to zero. I did a 50% h20 change and got the nitrates down to 20-40ppm. The nitrite was falling as well. I went out and got 5 neon tetras and one female betta to see how the tank would do.
I have tested the water for 3 days now and ammonia has been zero, nitrates holding steady but nitrites won't come off of .25ppm. I did have to euthanize 1 tetra due to a large white spot which I was told was NTD. I went to get a new one today and while acclimating it, I noticed another one passed. I checked ph and it is 7.6.
Why hasn't the nitrite gone to zero and what's up with the tetras? I've read they're a finicky fish to keep.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Kevin
