I have started to see pink spots on my glass. Most of the spots are in the back near my live rock. Sometimes I see them in the front. They are very crusty and hard to remove. Normally I use a scrub pad to remove them.

Are these a problem and what causes them?

Is there a better way to rid my self of them?

Thanks
Howard

This is a good thing. It is coraline algea. It is sign of a healthy tank. Most do not bother with it if it is on the back. I occassionally will scrub it off the sides and front of my tank. My entire back wall and powerheads are covered in it. Razor blades work well if you have a glass tank.

also I use a Mag-Float algae scrubber... if you go over the full front and sides of your tank from time to time wether it needs it or not, it can help to keep the coraline from starting.
