My power head has decided to reverse itself and is now sucking water in instead of blowing it. Do I need to buy a new powerhead or can I fix this?

I'm guessing this is a koralia. Just unplug it and plug it back in. Keep doing it until its normal. Happens to me all the time, its annoying.

From what I gather about these pumps, there is a rubber bumper on the front of the pump assembly, in front of the blade. This is supposed to knock the blade back into position if it starts to run backwards. If the bumper is knocked loose, or is compromised in any other way, it won't do what it's supposed to. I would check this, it could be causing your problem. I dont have these pumps, but have heard of this problem, and the solution.
Hope this helps! :)

I've tried that, it' didn't work very well for me. I actually kinda like having it run backwards sometimes, it cleans the blade and cage.
