Most all make probe start bulbs e.g. Hamiltom, Coralife, Ushio, XM, etc. Only a few make the pulse start because it's a newer technology. I think the pulse starts are only made by Hamilton and XM.
A pulse start bulb will work fine on a probe start ballast but will have a shorter life. A pulse on a pulse ballast will last longer and show crisper lighting than a probe. A probe bulb is dangerous to use on a pulse ballast - may short
