PVC paint

I know you can't paint PVC, but what about the purple primer used before PVC cement?
I have bits of it showing around my couplings, is the primer going to leech into water?
If not, can I coat the entire pipe to make it look more uniform?

i believe you could use the krylon plastic paint. i would use 220 grit sand paper on the pipe first and then paint it.
