I know aquacultured is more environmentally friendly. My question is what is the differences in life forms and the amount of life from the gulf than from say fiji. I know I am no expert by far. But I am looking to make a large live rock purchse in a couple of months so I trying to find out a lot of things before I buy. Thanks.

Well, Bob Fenner and Anthony Calfo make a point in their new book, that aquacultured rock is not more environmentally friendly than harvested reef rubble. Their point is that the reef rubble is a renewable resource, but the mined terrestrial rock used in aquaculture is not.

I have purchased both, and IME, the gulf LR has always contained more life, however this includes undesirable hitchikers as well.
