Reef octopus hob help

Just got my reef octopus bh 2000 hob today from BRS my question is next to the collection cup there is a hol there right under the screw the hold the cup tight what's the purpose of that? It's just spewing water back into the tank basically. Also and pictures of one set up can help me it's running fine lots of micro bubbles but that's expected I primed it correct.

Also how does the silencer go on correctly? And do you use the valve that came with it?

One more question is I have the skimmer cup at the highest point and it fills up with water still.

Alright so finally got it set right march 13th and now today it's pulling a crazy amount of dark green skimate. Highly reccomended for a tank without a sump. Break in period on a skimmer thought it meant it wouldn't work right away and would tank awhile I was wrong worked almost immediately.
