Refugium Pump

At what rate of water flow do you want to run water through your refugium. I'm adding a 40 gallon refug. and need to purchase a pump to operate my set up. I'm going to pump water from my sump to my refug and let it gravity feed back into my sump again and cycle into the main. I know this sounds weird but this was my only choice for the time being. FLOW RATE ???

I use a maxijet 1200 on mine but you might want a bit more flow than than since you fuge is twice the size.
