Repeated Dwarf Gourami Deaths

Yeah the fungusy place on the DG head, sounds like hole-in-the-head disease... or at least that is what they called it in the South US ten years ago... but if I recall correctly it was pretty much a death sentence back then.
Odd though, to hear that DG populations are having higher than average deaths all around the country.

Maybe a part of the problem with all these DG deaths could be because of excessive inbreeding? They try to keep making powder blue and fire reds now, I wouldn't be surprised.
The dwarf's do seem to be somewhat fragile, especially compared to some of the larger gouramis. They seem to do well in a low-stocked planted tank; given they were healthy when bought.
