Rock or Sand

I have white gravel substrate but it just looks dirty constantly. Should I go to a sand substrate or should I stick with rock. Dempsy Parrot Jewels and an oscar.

To be honest, its really about what you like best, those fish don't really care which substrate you use. With an oscar, you are always going to have lots of waste, so its about which looks better to you and which you find easier to clean.

My cichlids really enjoy rearranging the gravel in my tank. Sand is sometimes a pain when it comes to filtration if the fish are digging it up. I don't think it would be a huge problem if you tried sand though.
