Saltwater to Freshwater (just the tank and supplies)

I was curious if anyone had experience with buying a tank, filters, lights, etc that was used for saltwater...then using it for freshwater?

I'm curious what needs to be done to de-salt everything, or if it is a bad idea in general?

I know the lighting would need to be different.

I'm using a tank that had been used in saltwater for freshwater. Treat it like you would any dirty tank, and I think you'll be fine. A good scrubdown and lots of rinsing out seems to work well.

I didn't use the same filter or lights.
