There are a lot of Scypha ciliata sponges in my Prizm skimmer and I am not sure whether I should give the skimmer a good clean and remove them. The performance of my Prizm has degraded recently, which might be due to the build up of these sponges or just a coincident.

Does anyone have similar problem? Should I go ahead and give it a good clean?

For what its worth, I find cleaning my skimmer and sometimes replacing the hoses returns it to its previous glory. All kinds of trash up in there. If its not producing skimmate, may as well try a good cleaning. Cleaned mine last month...though I have not hooked it back up. Looking at going skimmerless.
