Feeding time. :)

Depends what kind of shrimp you want, and the conditions of your tap water. If you even have OK tap water, and want RCS, then you don't need to get RO water. But if you have horrific tap water or very touchy shrimp like OEBT's, it is probably a good idea to get RO water.

Here is my 2.5G RCS tank on my desk at work. Started with 5 and as you can see they had shrimplets! I'd say 20+ in there ATM..

LOL didn't realize I changed it so much in a year and a half, tank started in Jan 2012 but wasn't a shrimp tank right away. It was a guppy fry tank in the beginning.

There is such a difference from the beginning!!!(y)

There are Fire Red Cherry Shrimp in here appx 30-40 mostly babies, just had a couple drops and got about 10-15 babies from a friend.

Ramshorn Snails of all colors. Just plopped in two little blue Mystery snails.

Made a shrimp trap, but mostly got snails, lol Can you find the 4 shrimp in the pic?
60074-albums9764-picture57414.jpg

Will be moving them out when they get a little bigger. Lots of stones, mostly Petrified Wood Stones, and a "Flame" DW The shrimp absolutely love that thing.

Also have some Boraras Brigettae "Chilis" and also some Axelrodi "Neon Blue" only 2 as that was all they had and since still haven't received any new ones!!!
Sorry about the poor quality pics...

Temporary Home for the OEBT

The above Edge tank was supposed to be the Orange Eye Blue Tiger tank, but it started foaming and it freaked me out so until I could get that figured out the Betta got kicked out of his house and the OEBT shrimp moved in.

So this is where they live right now. But they are going to get a 12G Edge pretty soon. I don't have very good pics unfortunately, but here it is!

Here is the pic of the OEBT which arrived from the seller (from ebay gift from hubby) so small I couldn't see them. I think you can see one of them around 12 oclock above the oval leaf which I think is a duckweed leaf, they were THAT small!!!

60074-albums11858-picture52854.jpg

This tank is a 2.5G Aqueon, and was a previously established tank. Petco sand Petrified Wood Stones, coral shells and cuddlebone, Java Moss, Anubias, small sword, Banana Plant, and Dwarf Valls, Java Fern.

Add Dried oak leaves.

Standard light bulb which came with the tank as well as the stock filter with additional bag of little stones to add additional BB surface. Standard tap water a little scrape of cuddlebone dust on occasion.

Ramshorn snails, a couple pond snails and a Golden mystery snail.

Recently picked up another 12 OEBT from a local breeder, and looking forward to a new shipment of German OEBT from Speedie due in sometime this month. Not the Taiwan ones.

Don't mess with the OEBT too much! Just letting them grow up to breeding maturity.

No heater, it stays around 72-75F, a little cooler in winter and a little warmer in summer.

Starting some RCS

Seems like I've been cycling tanks forever!

I've had a 6 gallon desktop going for a few weeks with some male Endlers and 3 Mystery Snails.

My 20 gal. long finally finished cycling last week, so I moved the Endlers and 2 snails into it, leaving my 6 gal ready for some Red Cherry shrimp.

Here's the 6...

Love the Edge tank!

Here is my Edge with Halogen lights

There are Sundadanio Axelrodi Blue Form or Neon Blue aka Rasbora Axelrodi Neon Blue and Chilis, Boraras Brigittae.

Couldn't find the pic with all the outer view of the tank.

There are dark red Cherry shrimp and more recently added Fire Red babies, and Dwarf Hair grass inside next to the left side of the base of the DW.

Trying to decide about adding the OEBT shrimp in there too, but toying with the idea of a 12G Edge for the OEBT.

Here is before when it was a little jungle, I liked it more then, my CPO baby, ate most of the shrimp. :(

Fluval Spec III. Just set it up a couple days ago. I want to wait a month or so before adding shrimp to give the plants/moss a chance to settle in and build up a little bio-film in the tank.

So I just reset up a planted shrimp tank a few weeks ago... All with stuff from another tank thats been up a few years... Had a few bristlenose in it to make sure parameters were all good and stayed stable etc. its a dirt bottom 40 g breeder with a trace if blasting sand that i dusted it with.. That was on the bottom of bucket from pulling plants from another tank. I have the 36 in ray2 (finnex) for lighting... Sponge filters that run when lights are off and just added a temp, simple co2 on it till I can get a regular one... I have some RCS and a few CBS shrimp. Its a start... I have dwarf baby tears comming for front to start a carpet and dwarf sag for the back.

New shrimp vase

Looks good!!! Nice variety of plants and wood. Big healthy looking shrimp! (Just be sure to not overfeed and keep them away from a drafty area by a door or window so they can stay warm in the winter!!!!)

I loved my planted shrimp Jar, and bowl. Will do another before long, you are making me miss it more!

This is my relatively new 20 long shrimp tank. It is pretty heavily planted with crypts, Repens, Ludwigia, DBT, and Java moss. I use DIY CO2 and dose pps-pro. Currently, I have 6 RCS, 4 tigers, 1 amano, 2 ghost shrimp, and 2 celestial danios (6 more on the way from a local breeder).
