So I'm not sure if my Raphael spotted cat is getting enough to eat. The loaches are pretty good at cleaning up the tank and he comes out very very late at night. I was considering getting him ghost shrimp but if he doesn't eat them do they add a lot of bio load?

Their bioload is quite insignificant unless there are dozens of them. They will live mostly on uneaten food, fish waste, and mulm. So they can sometimes actually reduce bioload. Remember, as a general rule, the less advanced/complex an organism is, the more efficient it is at metabolizing. Bacteria only expel 20% of what they consume. Humans expel almost the same amount as they consume!

You could try feeding sometimes at night when he is active. That way you give him a better chance at food.
