Shrimplets? Bugs?

I noticed small things running around in the bucket after i did a sand vac today.
They are maybe a mm long and runn very fast and swim.

Any ideas?

Look up scuds - Gammarus Shrimp. See if that is one and the same. Or Daphnia. Best guess with no pics.

Na way smaller....like the size of (and may have been) those cyclops crustaceans

So here it is in the last 3" of a 5 gallon bucket.
You can see em zipping around (sorry the only thing to scale by is shimp poo)

They appear to be a amphipods or scuds (Gammarus). Shrimp like crustaceans found in both SW and FW.

Most likely hitchhiked with new plants.

Thats what i thought too but i would expect it more from wild harvesting than the local LFS

Depends on where the LFS gets their stock from as well. Once the amphipods get established in a tank, especially with no fish, they can spread via plant transfers.
