I prefer a range with big and small. It opens up your options for stocking, as other posters mentioned. If I had a single huge tank I would likely stock it with something I couldn't fit in a smaller tank and that are different from what I'm keeping now. I like to dabble.
If I had a 150g, i really don't see putting in all the fish I have together, then it gets to be too heterogenous for my taste. I would rather have more of a conspecific or biotope type approach as opposed to just putting a little of this and a little of that in one tank. Did that, trying to get away from it haha.
