When I add calcium, iodine, and the like, does my skimmer take it out of the water before it can be used by the livestock in the tank? IF so what can be done about this besides turning the skimmer off??
THanks

No, the skimmer doesn't remove trace elements. It's designed to remove DOC. I would be very cautious concerning the addition of things you don't test for. Regular partial water changes will replenish iodine, iodide, etc. in the majority of tanks. HTH

Good advice Michael. NEVER dose something you can't test for, and don't dose it until you've tested it and know you need to add some.
