How do I tell the difference between a mystery snail and an Apple snail... I have two black snails that are pretty large and one very large orange and white snail... the lps said they were mystery snails when I bought them however, the orange one looks like the pics I've seen of Apple snails. Any advice here would be great I have a newer tank that is plated and I really don't want my snails to start eating all my plants.

These are the two I am talking about and yes thank you the article helped very much

I would say mystery snails. Mystery snails get about the size of a golfball, and apple snails get to more of a baseball size.

You can grind up cuttle bone and put it in the tank to help with their shell growth.
