I've had a yellow spotted pleco for about 2.5 months now. He was pretty shy at first but adapted well and hung out in the open. While adding an air stone to the tank I noticed he was getting a little scared and swam off and hid inside my center piece decoration. This was 3 1/2 weeks ago and I haven't seen him since. Is this normal behavior? I drop algae tabs into the water at night. They are gone by morning but do not know if the other fish ate them or not or if he is surviving on the algae in his "cave". Possibly dead? Thanks for any information!

If you have not seen him in 3 1/2 weeks I would first check after lights out with a flashlight. If he is ok....I would remove the airstone. It's hard to enjoy a fish you never see.

Three weeeks is plenty of time for him to adapt to the airstone if he's going to.
