Just set up a 15g planted tank and was wondering on some ideas. I have a male betta in there already, so I have to build around him. I was thinking of 5 neon tetras and 3-4 shrimp. Do you think 5 neons would be fine? Or should I add a few more?

neon tetras have such a low-bioload, I think 6 would be fine.

Well, turns out my betta doesn't like neons. I woke up to find 4 out of 6 dead. I was stumped and blamed it on petco fish. Today I noticed the betta flaring and chasing the poor little neons. I have since removed the last 2 neons.

Ya some bettas are just like that. I tried putting mine in with platties and he kept flaring and chasing them so I had to move him.

Yea he really didn't show any signs of aggression before his new mates. He couldn't care less when I held up a mirror. Oh well, guess its just shrimp and snails
