So i'm getting a tank tomorrow - upgrade for my betta thats in a 1.5 gallon right now.

Already thinking of who to add after its cycled.

Would 3-5 neon tetras and 5 cherry shrimp be fine in a 5 gallon?

Any other pretty fish work with betta? i know he's a fighter - tried to have him in a 10G with 2 guppies, and one got chased, tail nipped and then died :(
so considering that - who would be a good roommate?
thanks

IMO, a 5g isn't enough space for a betta and tankmates. Small spaces lead to aggression, even from peaceful fish.
You can try shrimp, but a lot of bettas don't play well with shrimp. It depends on the individual.

if you want a tankmate for that size the only thing i would suggest are shrimp or a snail. i think you would have better chances with the snail

+1 on the snail as a tank mate. I had a betta, mystery snail and 2 Otto cats in a 5 gallon. Everyone was peaceful.but beware, all bettas have different temperaments.
