Hey all,

I want double check my fish load to make sure I'm in the ballpark for my new planted 29.

Current stock
1 Chinese algae eater. (He's old and still kickin it, he bugs me though)
7 glow light tetras
1 female preacox rainbow.

Proposed sock
All the above and....
5-6 more preacox rainbows
1 apistogramma or A pair of GBR

What do you all think.

Hello!

I think that is a fair stocking of a 29 as long as you stay on top of your water changes and water parameters. One watch out would be with the Dwarf Cichlids and the Chinese Algae Eater. I haven't had any of those in years, but I remember them being relatively aggressive, especially during feeding. The reason I bring this up is that the CAE and the Dwarf Cichlids are both going to stay at the bottom 1/3 of the aquarium...meaning their interaction number will be high. Just make sure one isn't abusing the other (Cichlids are feisty so they may beat the CAE up!).

If I were you, I would add the Cichlids first and see how full the tank feels. Having two schools, even of the smaller fish like the tetras can be a bit much in a 29.

Hope that helps!
