I have a 6g Fluval Edge with 4 CPDs and a sparkling gourami that is pretty heavily planted (you can check the link in my profile for more info). I've had an issue getting enough light to the space around the middle of the tank where the built in lights shine down. I replaced the out-of-the-box halogens with 2 LEDs from Amazon that came recommended from another Edge thread. My question is: what would be a good way to supplement light without going overboard? I dose Excel, but no pressurized CO2, so it can't be too much light. Would something like a desk lamp from Staples work if I replaced the bulb? And if so, what kind of bulb would I get? Thanks!

Yes, a desk lamp will work well. You'll need a cfl labeled 6500K or 'daylight'. IMO one around 11w will do.

Perfect, I'll pick one up, thanks!
