Will a Kenya tree coral grow under a T8 and thrive until I get my LED lighting.

A single T8? Not likely. If it's a small tank with a couple of T8s then it's very doable.

You need to give us more information to go on or we can't informatively answer this. What size is your tank? How many T8s do you have at what watt and color temperature? How long will they be under the T8s before you upgrade the lights? These things will all make a difference to the coral and the answers.
