tank has rust color on everything

My decorations are all turning a rust color especially on top of each one. What is it?

Probably diatoms.
Is your tank a new set-up?

I agree, probably diatoms. One other thought is iron in your tap water.

My setup.is about 7 months old. Don't know what's diatoms are.

i think i have the same problem, my tank is new but the color is almost gold? I added plants from my first tank and added some new ones my light is on about 12 to 13 hours and i did a plant fertilizer two weeks ago and the "stuff" showed up about three or four days ago ( my work schedule is wicked awful and my wife is helping me)

I heard that it was just a type of algae.
