Is this a fish in cycle or fish LESS? If fish IN you need to do some water changes because of that ammonia. Not sure what your actual question is.
Ahhhh I for got to ask, I keep doing water changes every other day, but there are fish IN.
Do 50% water change and test in 24 hours. You may have to do back to back water changes to get those levels down. You can't test right away. What conditioner are you using? And what size tank, filtration and stock?
It is a newer tank btw. And I'm using API water conditioner, filter-penguin 150&100. The 100 was my original one and it didn't clean the tank enough so I upgraded but kept it in. 20 gallon (high). 4 mollies 4 tetras 1 blue gourami 1 ghost knife and one pleco
Ok so your doing a fish in cycle. So just keep up on the water changes and keep those levels down. Keep testing also.
Is that all I can do? Just keep changing the water?
Yep, water changes are about all you can do, unless you want to return some fish. What kind of pleco do you have? Even smaller plecos would be pushing it in a 20 gal and if it's a common pleco they can grow up to 1-2 feet and will need a huge tank. These guides might help some too:

My pleco is a brownish color I'm not to sure, my manager is giving me a 40-44 gallon tank soon so I'm gonna fishless cycle that.
Are you moving all the fish? If so there is no need to cycle the tank. Simply transfer the filter media and its cycled.
Na only the pleco and the BGK to the other one and add more to that tank. I just got done a 20-40% water change with conditioner. When should I test the water??
Which water conditioner do you use?
