Tankmates for male gourami?

Hi

I just upgraded to a 20 gallon tank, and I put my 2 male (dwarf) gouramis into it. i know they aren't actually supposed to be together, but they are actually fine together and are very peaceful. they were in my old 10 gallon for atleast 2 years or so, and i've had no problems.

I'm just wondering if I can I put neon tetras, mollies, or platys with them? and if I can't...what can go with them?

Mollies and platys are pretty active. Tempermentally, I'd guess they'd do okay with the gouramis. But Dwarfs tend to be shy outside their species, so I'd be afraid they livebearers would out-compete them for food. Of the three, I'd go with neons.

Thanks. I will try neons and if it doesn't work, i have a backup tank that i can put them in. also, how many neons can i put in the 20 gallon?

I have 11 in my 20-long, along with other inhabitants, but it's heavily filtered and has lots of plants, so the water quality stays good.
