Tapping Noise

Everyday i occasionally hear a tapping noise from my 20 high. Especially at night. it keeps me up, and its slowly driving me insane. i currently have 5 serpae tetras and 2 amano shrimp in the tank. please help or ill go crazy!

I'm guessing it is just something (fish or decor) bumping into the glass, or you have a curious ghost!

Are any pieces of gravel hitting the tank?

Mabye the actually pump outside the tank is bumbling the stand? Mine was and made a very loud noise tilli moved it

that could be but idk how that would make a noise. so far its the only thing that makes sense.

Is it once every so often? Or a constant 'tick, tick, tick'? Another thought is the light fixture cooling down after lights out.

Mine does too.

Sounds like a stakeout might be in order. Most heaters have a light that you will get able to see going on and off to help with identifying that.
